Hey all, I just got the new Iphone 4 and its great, but I'm having a huge problem with one or two things. Most importantly, can anyone tell me how the hell to delete a contact or multiple contacts in the contacts app? I have to admit I'm stumped! Also, when adding a new contact, how do yu change the type of phone number required? By default its set to mobile, but how do you change it to say, Business or pager etc? If you're sighted it can be done, so how do you do it with Voiceover?
Help much apreciated,
Matt
when you go to edit there is a delete contact button in there. pretty far down there.
To edit the type of number it is. you double tap where it says mobile after the number. then it will bring up the other choices, this is when your editing the number of course.
Sorry if I did a bad job of explaining, maybe someone else will make it a bit more clear
On the top right corner of the screen, you'll find an edit button where you can edit the telephone number that is set for your contact. Delete is also accessed by the edit button. To delete a contact, you'll have to scroll upwards once by doing a three finger scroll upward. The delete button is right at the bottom of the screen. If you need anymore help, feel free to ask.
ok here's another random question. You're supposed to be able to do a 2-finger doubletap to answer and end calls. This works for me when answering calls, but won't always end them. Also, most times when I'm in the middle of a call, voiceover won't work unless I've made the call with the keypad. For example, if I go and make a call by clicking on the contact's number, it won't speak to me if I've got a call waiting call, or if i want to do anything else.
Any help with this would be awesome.
thanks
Your screen is probably locked and you have to double tap it to unlock it before you can do anything else. I believe it you touch th elower left corner of the screen it would say slide to unlock when u hear that just double tap to unlock and then u should be able to use the phone normally while on a call. Not sure why its not giving u the caller ID info though , Can't remember if mine does or not though i think it does. Maybe if you navigate away from the phone app it wont?
I still can't seem to edit what type of number i want to add, when i double tap on mobile it still wants to edit the number not the type of number, which is the same result i get when i double tap on the field where the number goes.
I get the same thing when i doubletap mobile. Lol
So do I.
I find that in order to make the speach work during a call it's better to use the hands-free headset rather than holding the phone itself.
Okay, when I first got my phone I was using split tap while typing but now that seems to be turned off and I can only use the touch typing.
any idea how I turned it off and how to get it back?
oh trying to use the phone with boice over on while on a call is annoying as hell, hands free head set for the win on that one definately. hell a wired headset would work great as well, like the one it ships with. Ok to change typing modes, when in and edit fiedl use the router to get to typing mode then single finger swipe till it says standard or touch typing and stop on which ever one you would like
thanks
When I firstset up m iPhone, i synced it with my GMail contacts, but I've since changed some of my contacts' data in gmail and they aren't updated in the phone. Anyoneknow how to resync gmail contacts with the iPhone? I also use the mail client to check my mail on a reg basis.
there's a check box in itunes somewhere that enables the phone to automatically update your email contacts.
Awesome, thanks.
do iphone 3gs 16gb have a voiceover?
and what about the iphone 4 16gb?
i'm planning to buy 1 but i cant afford the 32gb.
yes and yes
Hey all, I think most of the above questions have been answered now, not least by newer versions of I.o.s.
I have a new question however. When working in the Recents list of the phone ap, does anyone know how to delete individual entries? I know sighted users can do this because a friend actually demonstrated it to me, but all I seem to be able to do is activate the Clear All function.
There is definitely a way to select specific recent activities and delete just the selected ones!
Any feedback?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
@Matt
I did some research on this, as I didn't know the answer to your question.
Looks like you'll have to have a jailbroken phone to delete a single entry in the recent list.
Do you remember if your friends phone was jailbroken?
Zach
What recent list?
If you go into Task Switcher, by pressing home button twice, then you can double tap and hold until you get the tone and it says 'Deleting Apps' or whatever, then just double tap icons and they leave memory.
He's talking about the recent calls list in the phone app I think.
